(VOVWORLD) - The "One Commune One Product" program originated from Japan’s Oita village more than 30 years ago. This movement has achieved great success and has spread to many other countries. In May this year, Vietnam’s Prime Minister approved nationwide implementation of the very similar “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) program. Vietnamese craft villages are now developing their principal product in line with the OCOP program.

(VOVWORLD) - Can Ty village in Quan Ba district, Ha Giang province, is famous for flax growing and weaving. Villagers don’t know exactly when the craft emerged but at present local women with deft hands make brocade dresses and many other products to serve the needs of locals and tourists who want purchase a souvenir.

(VOVWORLD) - Located 10km southeast of Phan Rang City, My Nghiep village is the cradle of brocade weaving of the Cham ethnic people.

(VOVWORLD) - Bau Truc pottery village is located about 10 kilometers south of Phan Rang city. One of the most famous pottery making villages in Vietnam, Bau Truc has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage. Bau Truc pottery products are all hand-made. When they are baked, they are not covered by enamel. Most of Bau Truc potters are women.

(VOVWORLD) - The just-concluded week of Van Phuc Culture, Tourism, and Trading Handicraft Village featured the best of the 1,000 year-old silk weaving village. This was the largest ever event of the three times the festival has been held.

(VOVWORLD) - Chieng Xom became the first commune in Son La city to fulfill the criteria for new rural development in 2015. Now Chieng Xom has a new look with clean, beautiful hamlets, and the locals’ lives have improved. Locals are promoting community-based tourism to increase incomes and adhere to national norms for new rural areas.

(VOVWORLD) - The La clan in Chieng Bang commune, Son La province, has a deep-seated tradition of learning. The clan of Thai ethnic minority group has more than 30 university graduates and 20 others attending universities. Every year more than 80% of families in the La clan are recognized for their predilection for learning. They are role models for other families and clans to follow and expand the movement across Son La.

(VOVWORLD) - More than 90% of the population of Xuan Giang commune in Ha Giang province is Tay ethnic minority people. Local authorities have established Folk Artisans’ Associations to preserve and develop their traditional cultural identities, especially as it relates to folk melodies and musical instruments.

(VOVWORLD) - Mulberries have been grown in Vietnam for hundreds of years in rural areas like Thieu Hoa district in Thanh Hoa province. After fading for a time, mulberry farming and silkworm raising have revived and, thanks to new techniques, are producing higher incomes for thousands of people.
