(VOVWORLD) -The northern mountain border district of Ha Quang in Cao Bang province has 21 communes and towns that are home mainly to ethnic minority people. The remoteness, poor infrastructure, and low annual rainfall that results in water shortages make living here very difficult. The district is trying hard to escape poverty by 2025.

(VOVWORLD) - Vung Vieng fishing village is within the protected expanse of Bai Tu Long Bay, 20 kilometers northeast of Tuan Chau International Passenger Port, Ha Long city. Vung Vieng has been named one of the 16 most beautiful fishing villages in the world.

(VOVWORLD) -Thuy Ung village in Thuong Tin district, 30 kilometers south of Hanoi, has been making combs from buffalo and cow horns for 400 years. Since the mid-16th century, the craft has been passed down from generation to generation of villagers.

(VOVWORLD) -Hanoi’s 36 ancient streets symbolize the history and culture of Vietnam’s thousand-year-old capital. Most of these streets are named after the main craft made or item sold on that street for many, many years. Hang Vai (Fabric Street) is an exception. Located 600m northwest of Hoan Kiem Lake, Hang Vai is actually selling bamboo in the heart of the Old Quarter.

(VOVWORLD) - For generations, the Tay ethnic people have known how to use forest leaves and herbs for medicinal purposes. Medicinal plants are found anywhere, from the edge of the village to the middle of the forest. But the Tay in each region have different ways of combining the plants to create a remedy. For the Tay in Ba Che district, Quang Ninh province, making medicines from plants is a recognized profession.

(VOVWORLD) -Located along the Red River dike, Thong Nhat commune in Hanoi’s outlying district of Thuong Tin is famous for glassblowing. Local artisans have created many ingenious and sophisticated glass products.

(VOVWORLD) -Yen Bai province has 15 craft villages focused on processing agricultural products and handicrafts such as wood furniture, rattan and bamboo products, ceramics, textiles, and tools. The craft villages generate jobs and increase income, helping more than 70% of the communes in Yen Bai to be recognized as new-style rural places.
