The Quynh Luu-Thanh Hoa section and the Nam Dinh Thermal Power Plant 1-Pho Noi section are two of four components of the Circuit-3 500kV line project.

The operation of these components will reduce pressure on the current line, said Le Van Khai, Deputy Director of the Management Board of Northern Power Projects. “The inauguration of the 500KV Nam Dinh 1-Pho Noi line is very important, because it connects the power grid from Thanh Hoa to Nam Dinh and from Thanh Hoa to Quang Binh, ensuring the future electric supply of the 500kV power grid from the North Central region to the North.”

The Thanh Hoa-Nam Dinh Thermal Power Plant 1 line was inaugurated on June 30.
Le Van Cuong, Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Circuit-3 500kV line, said: “We’ve completed construction of three-fourths of the project. The remaining section is the Quang Trach-Quynh Luu line project. We’re striving to complete the construction at the direction of the Prime Minister.”

Once completed, the Circuit-3 500kV transmission line will increase inter-regional transmission capacity from the current 2,200 MW to about 5,000 MW, equivalent to over 20 billion kWh of commercial electricity supply to the North annually.
