(VOVworld) – The Laotian Ministry of Foreign Affairs marked the 45^th anniversary of ASEAN yesterday at a meeting with foreign diplomatic delegations and international organizations.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Thongloun Sisulit reviewed the 45-year history of ASEAN. Founded on August 8, 1967, ASEAN has promoted regional economic growth and socio-cultural development and created a platform for cooperation based on equality and friendship toward a prosperous and peaceful community.
Laos has hosted a number of activities to mark the event, including a contest to learn about the ASEAN community, a sports competition, and an ASEAN flag-hoisting ceremony.
