(VOVworld) - Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong met voters in the Hoan Kiem and Tay Ho districts in Hanoi to prepare for the upcoming National Assembly session. Regarding the votes of confidence for positions elected by the National Assembly and People’s Councils, Trong said on Tuesday that the Party decided to proceed with the voting for the National Assembly, party and political organizations. He said it reflected a determination to renovate and promote democracy and increase the supervisory role played by the people, National Assembly and People’s Councils.

As a coastal country with a long coastline and many islands and archipelagoes, Trong said that Vietnam was resolute about maritime development and the Law on the Sea. He emphasized the need to foster national independence and territorial integrity in the interests of peace and development. He said the Party and State have paid special attention to maritime development, including fisheries, gasoline for fishing boats and the supply of water and electricity to islands all in an effort to maintain friendship and promote stability for national development. He noted voters’ opinions on mass mobilization, bauxite issues in Tay Nguyen and the enforcement of legal normative documents.
