During his official visit to Italy, National Assembly Chairman Man met with Pope Leo XIV on Saturday at the Vatican, where he applauded the Pope's messages of peace and valuable contributions to promoting peace, social justice, environmental protection, and caring for the poor. These values ​​are very similar to the aspirations of the Vietnamese people in the cause of national construction and defense, Mr. Man said.

The top legislator expressed his hope that the Pope and the Holy See will continue to pay attention to and further strengthen mutual trust and understanding, aiming to elevate the relationship between Vietnam and the Holy See to a new stage of development.

The Vietnamese National Assembly continuously improves the legal system, creating favorable conditions for religions, including Catholicism, to operate and develop in accordance with the Constitution and laws.

Pope Leo XIV expressed his desire for both sides to further strengthen exchanges and contacts to deepen the Vietnam-Holy See relationship, meeting the common interests and aspirations of the Catholic community.

On the same day, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin. Mr. Man proposed the two sides continue maintaining high-level delegation exchanges and effectively implement the Joint Working Group mechanism. He also suggested that the Resident Papal Representative in Vietnam continue to closely coordinate with relevant Vietnamese agencies to further promote bilateral ties.
