Vietnam, China ramp up border economic cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - The 17th Vietnam-China International Trade and Tourism Fair opened on Thursday in Mong Cai ward, Quang Ninh province, featuring 300 booths and a wide range of trade, investment, and tourism promotion activities between the two countries' border localities.

The fair is organized annually by Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
 Addressing the event, Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE), highlighted that trade relations between Vietnam and China are entering a “second golden phase,” creating a foundation for strong bilateral trade growth.

In the past 10 months, bilateral trade reached 207.8 billion USD, according to Vietnamese statistics.

“The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam always values coordination with Chinese local governments to effectively support the two business communities in trade and investment cooperation. Guangxi is one of Vietnam's partners of particular importance, serving as the gateway for trade between the two countries. It is a locality with substantive cooperation with various Vietnamese agencies and localities," said Phu.

This year’s trade fair also includes specialized exhibition zones including  an investment, trade, and tourism promotion zone of Quang Ninh province; an exhibition showcasing Quang Ninh’s OCOP items; and exhibitions featuring the socio-economic achievements of both countries.

Hu Xiao Ning, Deputy Director of the Department of Commerce of Guangxi and Head of the Delegation from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said they hope that the fair will bridge the two sides in deepening cooperation in agricultural product processing, cross-border logistics, and building closely integrated industrial and supply chains.

“We aim to accelerate the development of smart border gates, elevate the level of trade, and jointly develop high-quality cross-border tourist routes to enhance neighborly friendship and sectoral cooperation," said Hu Xiao Ning.
