It was the 130th aid convoy under the “Zad El Izza: From Egypt to Gaza” initiative launched last July. Since the start of the conflict in Gaza in October 2023, Egypt has coordinated the delivery of more than 800,000 tons of humanitarian aid to the enclave, about 70% of all international assistance sent to Gaza.
Cairo is also playing an active role in implementing a US-brokered Gaza peace agreement, mediating between Palestinian factions and pushing for a two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Its proposal includes the establishment of an independent Palestinian state using the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
