The program, broadcast live on local TV, will feature songs and dances praising the sea, islands, and patriotism, performed by artists who recently visited the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and other islands to the southwest of Vietnam’s mainland as well as by border and coastal guard forces.
An exchange with border guards, naval soldiers, and fishermen will be held.
Trieu Le Khanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in Ho Chi Minh City, said: “We want to contribute to changing life of the officers, soldiers and people living in Truong Sa island and border areas who are safeguarding the national borders, seas, and islands.”
Last year the program raised more than 1.6 million USD of donations, which was spent on a range of activities, including visiting new recruits, presenting gifts to officers, soldiers and people in Truong Sa island district, and building infrastructure in border and island areas.
