Japan remained the largest destination, receiving over 55,000 workers, followed by Taiwan (China) with 47,000, and the Republic of Korea with 10,000. Other European destinations included Germany, Romania, Hungary, and Russia.
According to Vu Truong Giang, Acting Director of the Department of Overseas Labor Management under the Ministry of Home Affairs, about 860,000 Vietnamese workers are currently employed abroad — roughly 450,000 in Japan, nearly 300,000 in Taiwan (China), and almost 100,000 in the Republic of Korea — with the rest mainly in European countries.
“Vietnamese workers overseas earn stable and higher incomes than those working domestically in similar sectors. Each year, they remit around 6.5-7 billion USD to Vietnam, contributing significantly to foreign currency reserves, increasing household savings, and improving the livelihoods of workers and their families,” Giang said.
