President Luong Cuong hosted a State Banquet for Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam and the high-level Bruneian delegation, who are on a State visit to Vietnam. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also attended the event.
President Luong Cuong said since the establishment of diplomatic relations over the last 30 years and more than five years since the upgrade to a Comprehensive Partnership, Vietnam–Brunei relations have been continuously strengthened and expanded. The two countries are implementing the Action Program for the 2023–2027 period, focusing on areas of potential and strength such as agriculture, fisheries, Halal cooperation, energy, education, tourism, and maritime and oceanic cooperation.
“The Sultan’s visit will further deepen the close and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Brunei. I believe that with the goodwill and efforts of both sides, the Vietnam–Brunei Comprehensive Partnership will continue to expand, contributing to building a united, resilient and prosperous ASEAN Community, for the benefit of their peoples and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world,” said President Cuong.
Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah highlighted that the continued strengthening of trade connectivity and deeper cooperation in all fields will create shared benefits and enhance the capacities of industries and enterprises of both countries, while ensuring food and energy security. He also expressed his wish to continue working closely with Vietnam and other ASEAN Member States to achieve the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.
