During a meeting with Wang Huning, Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), in Beijing on Tuesday, Mr. Lam emphasized the need to strengthen connections in shared ideals and trust, development interests, and cultural and people-to-people ties.
He called for maintaining regular high-level exchanges, enhancing political trust, and improving cooperation across Party, State, Government and legislative channels, as well as between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the CPPCC, while reinforcing defense and security ties.
The Vietnamese leader also proposed creating new areas of cooperation including transport infrastructure, especially railways, digital transformation, and strategic technologies, such as artificial intelligence, quantum technology, semiconductors, and high-quality human resource development. He highlighted the role of the CPPCC and the Vietnam Fatherland Front in promoting exchanges among localities and people’s organizations, and in strengthening public awareness of Vietnam-China friendship.
Chairman Wang said China regards its relationship with Vietnam as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy. He called for promoting socialist modernization in both countries and enhancing strategic connectivity, particularly through faster infrastructure links and cooperation in AI and the digital economy.
China, he said, is ready to expand imports of Vietnamese goods, especially high-quality agricultural products, and encourage Chinese enterprises to increase investment and mutually beneficial cooperation in Vietnam.
The CPPCC is ready to strengthen ties with the Vietnam Fatherland Front, promote exchanges among all segments of society, especially youth, and expand cooperation in education, healthcare and local-level exchanges, while supporting each other in organizing major multilateral events, he noted.
