(VOVworld) - Japan's Yomiuri newspaper reports that Vietnam is one of the 7 Asia-Pacific countries to attend the G7 summit scheduled for May 26-27 in Mie prefecture, Japan.
As President of the G7, Japan will also invite representatives from Laos, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea, and the Chad Republic. G7 regulations say that besides the 7 member countries, the Presidency country is allowed to invite any country it wishes.
Japan’s Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, said one of the major issues will the global economy, impacted by a range of factors including slowdowns in emerging markets, the sharp drop in oil prices and weakening trade. The East Sea issue will also be high on the agenda regardless of China’s opinion that the G7 summit is tasked to only discuss global economic issues.
