Deputy Prime Minister Son was speaking at the Forum’s first plenary session themed "Global Energy Market: Transforming relations and balancing interests". He informed delegates about Vietnam's general goals until 2030, with a vision to 2045. Vietnam will ensure firm national energy security; provide sufficient, stable, and high-quality energy with low emissions to drive socio-economic development; safeguard national defense and security; improve living standards for people; and protect the environment, he said.
The Deputy Prime Minister answered delegates’ questions on the Vietnamese Government's plan to expand infrastructure and improve technical capacity to receive LNG. The implementation and expansion of LNG terminal infrastructure investment is planned in sync with the progress of gas-fired power plant projects. There will be about 10-14 LNG terminal clusters for corresponding gas-fired power plants in all regions of Vietnam. Vietnam welcomes investors’ cooperation and experience sharing with Russian and other international companies to enhance their capacity in developing and operating LNG terminal infrastructure, the Deputy PM said.
