The top leader chaired a conference in Hanoi to announce the Politburo's decision appointing the Executive Board, Standing Board, Secretary, and Deputy Secretary of the Government Party Committee, and to announce the Decision appointing members of the Government for the 5-year term. Also present were Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, former Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and Permanent Member of the Party’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu.

At the event, General Secretary and President Lam said that this term is the first term to implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress. He outlined major tasks, saying “It’s imperative to maintain macroeconomic stability, consolidate major balances, control risks well, and at the same time create new growth drivers to achieve the goal of high and sustainable growth. Double-digit growth must be based on strong institutional reforms, by improving productivity, by unleashing all social resources, by facilitating private investment in priority sectors, by innovation, by improving the quality of human resources, and by enhancing the genuine competitiveness of the economy."

"The government must improve its capacity to implement the resolutions of the Party and the National Assembly, and the laws of the State to ensure that laws and resolutions are implemented more quickly, transparently, and consistently; to make citizens and businesses feel secure when investing, innovating, and conducting legitimate business; and to make every state management decision a driving force for development,” Mr. Lam said.

The General Secretary and President urged each member of the Government to shoulder national responsibility in their respective fields, and that each Ministry and sector prioritize the common good of the nation, the overall efficiency of the economy, and the convenience of citizens and businesses above all else. Simultaneously, science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation must be considered the foundation of the new growth model.

The Government must have a forward-thinking vision, be prepared early and in advance, avoid passivity and unexpectedness in all situations, while building a truly honest, clean, strong, united, disciplined, people-oriented, and people-serving Government. Each ministry and sector must proactively create space for policy experimentation, support the application of new technologies, build shared data, improve the quality of online public services, promote the digital economy, digital society, and digital citizens, and do everything possible to improve labor productivity, the top leader added.

On behalf of the Government and the Government Party Committee of the, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung affirmed commitment to concretizing all the directives of the General Secretary and the President into action programs and plans from the very first days and months of the new term.

“We are undertaking this task when the country is on the threshold of tremendous opportunities but also full of challenges, to be worthy of the trust of the Party and the expectations of the people. I call for the spirit of unity, cooperation, discipline, and order. Efforts should be made to continuously cultivate qualities and improve capabilities; dare to think, dare to speak, dare to act, dare to take responsibility; be courageous; dare to confront difficulties and challenges; and act decisively and effectively. Focus on building a Party Committee, Government, and state administrative system from the central to local levels that is honest, clean, strong, efficient, effective, and truly of the people, by the people, for the people, and ready to serve the people," PM Hung added.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, at its first session, the National Assembly passed resolutions approving the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint 6 Deputy Prime Ministers and 14 Ministers, and 3 heads of ministerial-level agencies.

Party General Secretary and President To Lam signed decisions appointing the Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, and other members of the Government. The six Deputy Prime Ministers are General Phan Van Giang, Pham Gia Tuc, Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Ho Quoc Dung, Nguyen Van Thang, and Le Tien Chau.
