General Thang chaired a meeting in Hanoi on Wednesday with the Permanent Office of the National Steering Committee on Overcoming War Consequences of UXO and Toxic Chemicals in Vietnam (Office 701) and relevant agencies.
Mr. Thang urged continued review and improvement of institutions and regulations to push forward remediation efforts, while developing a national action program for settling post-war unexploded ordnance consequences for the 2026-2045 period, which will be submitted to the Government this year.
Efforts should be made to expand cooperation with other countries and international organizations, effectively implement cooperation agreements signed with international partners, mobilize resources and advanced technologies to speed up mine clearance and treating toxic chemicals, and increase support for victims, he added.
