Vietnam is in Group A with North Korea, South Korea, and Myanmar. But North Korea has withdrawn from the event, making qualifying for the next round that much easier. Vietnam secured a berth in the play-off round as one of two best teams of Group A since Myanmar lost both of its matches.

Ngan Thi Van Su who scored the only goal of the match said: “Both teams played well today. I’m very glad and proud to be in the starting line-up in my debut match for the national team.”

Vietnam will face hosts South Korea in the last Group A match on Sunday.
