(VOVworld) – The Association of Vietnamese students and professors in the US organized a workshop Saturday on “Militarization in the East Sea and its consequences” to seek peaceful solutions in line with the international law.

The event took place at Harvard University in Boston with the participation of US prestigious experts. Participants discussed the current political situation and possible developments in the near future. They gave presentations on the history of disputes in the East Sea, the militarization in the East Sea and its impact on regional and global stability, responses of concerning parties, and the role of international organizations in seeking solutions to the disputes. The presentations highlighted the need to resolve disputes peacefully in accordance with international law.

Regarding the US role in maritime safety in the East Sea, some experts stressed that the US should continue its presence in the region though it has engaged in many other global issues, particularly the fight against Islamic State.
