(VOVworld) –Villagers of hamlet 6, Quang Thinh commune in Quang Ninh province now can enjoy better transportation thanks to a new 400-meter-cement-road which has been put into operation. Quang Thinh commune has been targeted to have basically completed the criteria for new rural development by 2015.

(VOVworld) – Quang Binh province selected 6 communes in 6 districts to pilot the national program for building new rural areas. Local people have actively become involved in the program, and feel a high sense of responsibility.

(VOVworld) – Ethnic minority people in Son La province have developed community-based tourism by promoting local cultural values and traditions. Hum hamlet of Thai ethnic minority people in Chieng Xom commune, Son La city, is an example.

The implementation has also revealed some problems including old ways of thinking and working. Adjustments and a more suitable approach will be needed to fulfill the program’s criteria.

(VOVworld) – Soc Trang province has piloted the new rural development program in 22 isolated communes of the Khmer ethnic minority people where the infrastructure remains poor. After three years of implementation, 300 public works have been built to support people develop production, reduce poverty, and imrpove the hamlets.

In order to create consensus and encourage people’s involvement in the program, communications and mass mobilization work is a significant task. The authority of Phuoc Huu commune, Ninh Thuan province has organized mass mobilization groups in hamlets to encourage the people to implement new rural criteria.

(VOVworld) – Xuan Lanh commune in Dong Xuan district, Phu Yen province, has been developing toward a modern socio-economic infrastructure and appropriate production models. Since the beginning of this year, the commune has invested in upgrading its water supply and rural roads and adopting new varieties of animals and high-yield plants.

(VOVworld) – Bac Son commune in the northern province of Quang Ninh is actively involved in the new rural areas program. Although they live in a mountainous border commune with lots of problems, local authorities and residents have taken advantage of available opportunities for rural development.
