The event was held by the Vietnam Youth Federation. The honorees came from all walks of life, but all share the values of trust, respect, love, equality, and solidarity in family life. They represented millions of families nationwide who strive everyday to build happy homes.
Mr. Lam A Ha, who is running a homestay in Lao Cai province with his wife, rose above social prejudices. He said: "In our Tay ethnic community, men used to make all the decisions. When I got married, some of my friends said I should just let my wife handle all the chores, but that didn’t sit right with me. It felt unfair to women. In our home, we do things together and grow together. We split the chores — I take the heavier work, and my wife handles the lighter ones. That’s how we stay happy."
As part of the event was a music gala called “Together, we’re a family - Writing a journey of love.”
