At the conference, President Luong Cuong said the victory on April 30, 1975, was an extremely important event in the nation’s history. Vietnam was completely reunified, and the Vietnamese people entered a new historical era of independence and unity, moving toward socialism.

Highlighting the substantial contribution of Vietnamese diplomacy to the historic victory, President Cuong said that, although half a century has passed, the historical significance and profound lessons of the Victory of April 30, 1975 still retain their value for Vietnamese diplomacy in building peace, and defending and developing the nation.

He expressed hope that delegates at the conference will clarify the key factors, lessons, roles, and remarkable contributions of Vietnamese diplomacy during the struggle for national liberation, reunification, and development, and offer practical directions for cooperating with the international community in building and maintaining sustainable peace in the region and around the world.
