Mr. Costa said this is a great historical event not only for Vietnam but also for the conscience of the world. He added that the two sides are important, trustworthy and stable partners of each other and that Vietnam is a pillar partner of the EU in Southeast Asia and that the Vietnam - EU relationship deserves to be elevated to a new level.
General Secretary Lam emphasized the tremendous significance of the great victory in the spring of 1975, saying this particularly important event opened a new era in the history of the Vietnamese nation – building a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic, and prosperous Vietnam.
Vietnam advocates multilateralization, diversification, and equal and mutually beneficial cooperation with all partners, including the EU and its member states, aiming for balanced, sustainable trade cooperation, and harmonizing the interests of all parties, said the Party leader.

Discussing the global and regional situation, the two leaders agreed that Vietnam and the EU need to strengthen cooperation within the framework of multilateral forums, support the settlement of disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, contributing to ensuring peace, stability and freedom of navigation and aviation in the region.
