The restrictions include a ban on leaving the country and a prohibition on leaving the Kathmandu Valley without government permission. Others on the recommended list for travel bans include former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Deputy Home Minister Gokarna Mani Duwadi, former Director of the National Investigation Department Hutaraj Thapa, and former Kathmandu District Police Chief Chhabi Raj Rijal.
Following former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s resignation, an interim government was formed on September 12, led by former Chief Justice of Nepal’s Supreme Court, Sushila Karki. Upon taking the oath of office, Ms. Karki requested President Ram Chandra Poudel to dissolve parliament and prepare for new elections scheduled for March 5, 2026.
