Speaking at the event, Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, expressed his hope that the veterans would continue to rekindle the patriotic spirit, faith, strength, and aspiration among the younger generation to contribute to developing Ho Chi Minh City into a modern, dynamic, creative, civilized, and compassionate metropolis.
At the Ho Chi Minh City Martyrs' Cemetery in Thu Duc City, the Youth Union and Ho Chi Minh City jointly organized the “Candle Lighting Ceremony in Gratitude to Heroic Martyrs.” The program connected eight martyrs' cemeteries in Quang Tri, Da Nang, Dak Lak, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, Long An, and Dong Thap provinces.
Dong Nai province held a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
80-year-old Do Thang Phien, former Deputy Commander of Xuan Loc District’s Military Command, shares his joy to the development of Dong Nai and the nation as a whole: “At that time, Dong Nai was poor with muddy red-dirt roads. Over the past 50 years, I am very happy to see that the country has developed as well the people. These are great achievements of the Party, the military, and the people.”
