The General Secretary was speaking at a working session with the Ministry of Health on Monday ahead of the 70th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctor's Day, February 27.
“It’s imperative to increase the application of technology in medical examination and treatment, helping patients in remote areas access specialists without having to travel far. Establish an online health consultation system to support initial diagnosis."
"It’s necessary to expand forms of public-private cooperation and expand space for private individuals to invest in building medical facilities, hospitals, and nursing centers, and encourage the development of hospitals and medical services outside the public sector."
He also stressed the need to improve the effectiveness of vaccination and preventive health programs, expand coverage of the Expanded Program on Immunization.
Emphasizing the challenges that the medical sector is facing, General Secretary Lam asked the sector to innovate its thinking and focus on scientific research and international cooperation.
Efforts should be made to promote digital transformation in medical management, deploy electronic medical records, synchronize health data between hospitals and medical facilities, strengthen the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data (Big Data) in disease diagnosis, treatment and disease trend analysis, he said.
