Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh receives María Victoria “Marí” Zíngoni, CEO for Power at GE Vernova, in Hanoi on September 30, 2025.

At Monday’s reception in Hanoi for María Victoria “Marí” Zíngoni, GE Vernova’s Chief Executive Officer for Power, Mr. Chinh encouraged the company to explore hydrogen power projects to advance a green and sustainable energy transition.

He suggested that GE Vernova consider Vietnam a long-term strategic hub by establishing an R&D center, and move forward with cooperation agreements on power generation, transmission, and grid development with Vietnamese partners.

PM Chinh said he hopes that GE Vernova will support Vietnam in tariff negotiations with the US. Together with other US corporations, the company could play a key role in conveying accurate assessments of Vietnam’s economic realities, strengthening engagement with President Trump’s administration on tariff issues and deepening the Vietnam–US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a more substantive way.

Ms. Zíngoni said GE Vernova plans to supply equipment for LNG power plants, develop substations and transmission systems, and provide digital solutions for Vietnam’s power sector. She pledged to enhance the company’s supply chain to meet Vietnam’s needs while helping address trade challenges in bilateral relations.

With operations in more than 100 countries and revenues of 35 billion USD last year, GE Vernova has been present in Vietnam since 1993 and currently employs 1,700 staff.

The company has contributed to several landmark projects, including the Nhon Trach 3 and 4 thermal power plants, the Son La and Lai Chau hydropower plants, as well as solar, wind, and transmission projects.
