The agreement was reached during talks between President Luong Cuong and President of Sri Lanka Anura Kumara Dissanayaka in Hanoi, after the official welcoming ceremony.

Emphasizing the great potential for economic, trade and investment cooperation, the two leaders agreed to facilitate the opening of the market for each country's goods to access the other's market, aim to diversify the supply chain, strive to achieve the target of 1 billion USD in bilateral turnover and increase two-way investment.

The Sri Lankan President said he would create favorable conditions to encourage Vietnamese enterprises to invest in strategic areas that Sri Lanka has high demand for, like infrastructure, telecoms, education, healthcare, high-tech agriculture, agricultural processing, food, retail, logistics, and tourism. At the same time, he said he would expand cooperation in agriculture, food security, science and technology, education, culture, religion, healthcare, tourism, and people-to-people exchange.

The guest stressed the need to enhance the sharing of experiences in developing the marine economy, maritime transport, and maritime connectivity, while incentivizing airlines of the two countries to consider opening direct flights.

After the talks, President Luong Cuong and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka witnessed the signing of five cooperation documents in the fields of diplomacy, trade, customs, agriculture and machinery manufacturing.
