The Engineer Team of the Vietnam People's Army was deployed to the UNISFA on September 25, 2024.
The Vietnamese sappers have contributed to stable operations for the peacekeeping force and the lives of people in the Abyei region. They repaired, maintained and upgraded 62km of the mission's main supply lines and more than 180km of strategic patrol routes, ensuring smooth transportation of goods, food and fuel, while opening new routes connecting remote bases.
The Engineer Team upgraded helipads at the Mission Headquarters and at outlying bases such as Agok, Rumamier, Diffra and Noong, which are considered the mission’s transportation, medical and mobility lifelines.
In addition, the Vietnamese engineers carried out civil mobilization activities and supported the local community, making the Abyei people's lives better.
