At a reception in Hanoi on Monday for visiting Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin, the Party leader suggested that the Duma maintain close coordination with the Vietnamese National Assembly in parliamentary cooperation.

Meeting Vyacheslav Volodin on the same morning, President Luong Cuong asked Russia to continue supporting the stance of Vietnam and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on the East Sea, especially on resolving disputes and disagreements by peaceful means, on the basis of international law, the United Nations Charter and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

At Monday reception for the Chairman of the Russian State Duma, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on the Duma to support economic, trade and investment cooperation with Vietnam to soon achieve the goal of 15 billion USD bilateral trade.
For his part, Chairman Volodin said Russia considers Vietnam its top priority partner in the Asia-Pacific region and in Southeast Asia. He emphasized that the Russian Parliament is ready to coordinate the implementation of high-level agreements and support the promotion of bilateral relations in all fields.
