As global travel makes a strong comeback while facing mounting environmental and cultural pressures, this year’s theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation” highlights the shared responsibility of nations to promote green tourism that balances economic growth, social progress, and environmental protection.
Vietnam, with its eco-tourism and community-based tourism initiatives, is contributing to this global green journey.
According to UNWTO, international arrivals reached 1.4 billion in 2024, returning to pre-COVID-19 levels. Tourism generated 11.1 trillion USD in global GDP last year, accounting for 10% of the world economy. UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili said sustainable tourism is no longer just a trend but a global responsibility.
