Australia's new Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull
(VOVworld) – Australia’s new Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull urged China to ease off on island construction in the East Sea during an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation late Monday. Turnbull said China’s external policies regarding the East Sea issue were unconstructive. He stressed that there clearly are some tensions with the islands and shoals in the East Sea, calling on China to take appropriate actions. He underscored that the rise of China should be conducted in a manner that does not disturb the security and the relative harmony of the region upon which China's prosperity depends. He added that China’s activities in the East Sea have had exactly the reverse consequences of what China is seeking to achieve.

Malcolm Turnbull is the most popular Prime Minister in more than five years. The latest Newspoll, taken exclusively for The Australian, reveals voters have welcomed Mr Turnbull’s move to topple Tony Abbott, with 55 per cent rating him as the preferred prime minister — the highest rating since Julia Gillard in July 2010 and 18 points greater than Mr Abbott’s last measure a fortnight ago.
