Vietnam, Iceland boost bilateral ties

(VOVworld) – On Wednesday President Truong Tan Sang hosted a reception in Hanoi for President of Iceland Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, who is paying a visit to Vietnam from Tuesday to Friday. During talks following the reception, the two leaders agreed that since Vietnam and Iceland established diplomatic ties on August 5, 1973, Vietnam-Iceland trade relations have remained limited and not on a par with their sound bilateral political relationship. They discussed ways to promote their relations; exploit co-operation strengths and potentials in economics, science, technology, and education; create conditions for businesses from both sides to expand their trade and investment collaboration; hasten conclusion of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA); and enhance co-operation between the two countries at international forums.
