At the meeting, Chairman Man emphasized the positive development of Vietnam-Italy relations after more than 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations and over 10 years of their Strategic Partnership. The two countries cooperate effectively and comprehensively in many fields, from politics and diplomacy, trade and investment, culture, education and training, to defense and security. Both expand their cooperation into new areas such as science and technology, innovation, environment, and climate change response.
The top legislator expressed his hope that the Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Torino, the Honorary Consul Office, and Italian friends will continue to cooperate closely with the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy in community activities and in supporting Vietnam. He called on the Italian side to create favorable conditions for agencies, organizations, and associations of both countries to play a bridging role and promote practical and effective cooperation.
Ms. Scagliotti expressed confidence that under the leadership of General Secretary and President To Lam and the newly consolidated senior leaders, Vietnam will successfully implement strategic policy to usher the country into a new era of development based on an autonomous economy, aiming for the happiness of its people.
The two sides also exchanged views on measures to promote comprehensive cooperation, deepen the Vietnam-Italy Strategic Partnership, and work towards upgrading relations soon.
During the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man presented Honorary Consul Sandra Scagliotti with a book about the 80 years of the Vietnamese National Assembly. In return, the Honorary Consul presented the National Assembly Chairman with a book about President Ho Chi Minh.
