Party chief To Lam speaks at a ceremony in Hanoi on September 6, making the General Staff’s Traditional Day.

Presenting the title of “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” to the General Staff on the occasion of its 80th Traditional Day (September 7), the Party leader affirmed that their feats of arms demonstrate steadfastness, wisdom, strategic talent, and the creative application of the national tradition of fighting against invaders - “using the few to defeat the many, the small to overcome the large,” and “knowing the enemy and knowing ourselves, winning a hundred battles out of a hundred.”

He also underscored the historical lesson handed down by the forefathers: “National construction must go hand in hand with national defense.”

“Attention should be paid to selectively absorbing and creatively applying advances in global military science and technology to raise Vietnam’s military science and art to new heights,” the Party leader said. “It is crucial to strengthen overall capacity and be proactive in research and early forecasting, particularly of strategic adjustments by major powers and developments in the East Sea.”

General Secretary Lam urged efforts to manage international relations effectively to prevent the risk of war and conflict, while consolidating the all-people national defense posture, closely linked with the people’s security posture and a firm “people’s hearts and minds posture.”
