On Tuesday, the National Assembly elected General Secretary To Lam as State President, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission Le Minh Hung as Prime Minister, and reappointed Nguyen Van Quang as Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court.
The National Assembly’s decision on the new leadership of Vietnam is drawing great attention from Party carders and members and the public, and is expected to pave the way for a more streamlined, efficient, and effective State apparatus in the new term, better serving national development goals.
Many citizens have voiced their expectations for the new leadership: “We hope that, in his capacity as State President, Mr. To Lam will deliver strong breakthroughs in leadership and governance, enabling the economy to achieve sustained double-digit growth, advancing Vietnam toward developed-nation status, raising people’s incomes, and further enhancing the country’s standing on the international stage.”
Others emphasized the importance of people-centered governance: “We hope our leaders will put the country and the people first, stay close to the people, and serve them better.”
