Air Force General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Thursday that the US blockade applies to all vessels heading to or from Iranian ports, regardless of nationality, and the US is prepared to use force if necessary, including warning shots, inspections, and taking control of ships.
US officials said the blockade does not target all strait traffic, just ships headed to or from Iran.
Meanwhile, the US Treasury Department has launched a new operation dubbed “Economic Fury,” aimed at exerting maximum pressure on Tehran, alongside new sanctions targeting Iran’s oil sector. Mohsen Rezaei, a member of the Expediency Discernment Council of Iran, said Tehran will not allow its import and export activities to be disrupted.
