(VOVworld) – Lao people along the border are filled with joy at the inauguration of border marker No. 460 at the Thanh Thủy – Nậm On border gate. Saengchan,, a resident of Borikhamxay province, says: “The inauguration of the border marker proves that Laos and Vietnam are the closest of brothers. The marker will boost the friendship between Laos and Vietnam. The two sides have the responsibility to build a borderline of peace and friendship".

Sulisak, a policeman at the Nam On border gate of Borikhamxay province, says: “I think the border marker will further solidarity and friendship between the two countries in general and Nghe An and Borikhamxay province in particular. This will bring the bilateral relations to a new height. The marker will create favorable conditions for border guards and policemen between the two countries in safeguarding border areas, and for sustainable socio-economic development.”

Over the past 5 years of implementation, 835 new markers have been planted along 2,067 km of shared border.
