Young parliamentarians voice Vietnam's climate change response efforts

(VOVWORLD) -A delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to the eighth IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Egypt shared concerns about the impacts of climate change and voiced response efforts.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Dinh Thi Phuong Lan, Deputy Chairwoman of the Ethnic Council, and Vice Chairwoman of the Group of Young National Assembly deputies.

The 8th edition of the conference on Thursday and Friday involving 200 delegates from 60 countries and international organizations was jointly organized by the Parliament of Egypt and the International Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Sharm el Sheikh city.

The delegation said the National Assembly of Vietnam has included commitments to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the legal system, integrated climate change adaptation into the strategic planning system, and strengthened resilience and adaptive capacity of communities, economic sectors, and ecosystems. Vietnam has increased resources for climate change adaptation and taken care of vulnerable groups in society.
