The opening ceremony featured cultural performances and spectacular motorcycle demonstrations. Delegations from 168 communes and wards, along with representatives of the municipal Military Command and Police, marched past the grandstand. This was followed by the procession of the national flag and the festival flag, carried by city leaders and outstanding athletes.

Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Cuong said the large-scale event promotes physical training in line with President Ho Chi Minh’s example, while contributing to the development of high-performance sports.

“Building on the Games’ momentum, we will continue to promote physical training, improve public health, and foster a dynamic, resilient and ambitious citizenry, meeting the demands of Ho Chi Minh City’s development in the new era” he noted.

The Games will run until June. Top performers will be selected to compete in the 10th National Sports Games, to be held in Ho Chi Minh City later this year.
