In his address, Council Chairman Nguyen Quang Vinh said many Vietnamese companies have applied sustainable water management initiatives, introducing water-saving technologies, as well as reusing and recycling water in production processes. However, many small and medium-sized enterprises still face limited financial capacity, a lack of modern technology, and insufficient support mechanisms which require stronger backing from policies, financial institutions, and the media to inspire and connect communities for collective action, he said.

“Water is a precious natural resource and an essential form of ‘capital’ for corporate success and sustainable growth. Whether in manufacturing or services, every business is associated with water use. Developing and implementing strategies for efficient water resource use must be a central element of any corporate sustainability program,” said Vinh.

Hoang Viet, Water Program Director at WWF-Vietnam, warned that climate change, unchecked exploitation, and pollution from human activities have led to depleting scarce water resources, posing risks to water security.

He urged the State to plan and monitor water resources more closely, and for businesses to actively save and reuse water as well as for communities to participate in and practice water conservation.
