The top leaders of the two Parties and two countries had a comprehensive and in-depth exchange on the situation in each country, their relations, and regional and global issues of shared concern. General Secretary and President Xi said Vietnam is a priority in China's neighborhood diplomacy and China is ready to work with Vietnam to promote the China-Vietnam community of shared future that carries strategic significance.

General Secretary and President To Lam told the hosts, “I and the leadership of the Vietnamese Party and State always wish to work together with Comrade Xi Jinping and the leadership of the Chinese Party and State to unceasingly cultivate the tradition of friendship, promote the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and develop the Vietnam-China community of shared future that carries strategic significance.”

The two leaders said they continue directing relevant agencies to adhere to the overarching “six more orientations”. They are higher political trust; more substantive defense and security cooperation; deeper substantive cooperation; more solid social foundation; closer multilateral coordination; and better control and resolution of differences. Both stressed the need to maintain regular high-level exchanges, promote the guiding role of Party-to-Party channels, expand substantive cooperation across sectors, and reinforce the social foundation of bilateral ties.

Consensus was reached on establishing a new level of cooperation in economics, trade, investment, and tourism, realizing each country's development goals, focusing resources on upgrading strategic infrastructure connectivity, and giving the highest priority to railway cooperation. Both sides agreed to open their doors to each other's goods to the maximum extent possible and strive to promote balanced and healthy trade.

During the talks, the two leaders officially announced the launch of the "Vietnam-China Tourism Cooperation Year 2026-2027," agreeing to strengthen cooperation activities, promote tourism, upgrade tourism and service infrastructure, and consolidate each other's positions as the largest tourist markets.

Mr. Xi and Mr. Lam agreed to continue resolving differences properly, seriously comply with the consensus between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China on the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and accelerate negotiations to soon finalize an effective and substantive Code of Conduct (COC) in accordance with international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Following the talks, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly, along with the high-level delegation of the Vietnamese Party and State, attended a grand state banquet and farewell tea party hosted by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan. This is a special form of contact between the top leaders of Vietnam and China.
